The "BIG 2-2" :)

Happy Birthday, Gil!
Hard to believe that my little brother is 22 today. Time has definitely passed quickly enough for me to not even notice. Although he definitely still has a lot of growing to do, I am very happy and blessed to have him in my life. So, Gil..here's to you! Love you!

Never Forget

Like any true American, I can remember to the minute where I was the moment the Two Towers were hit.

- I had just moved to Houston and was starting a new year at U of H. I was staying with my Tia Belinda and she came to wake me up as soon as she had learned the North Tower had been hit. (I didn't have to be anywhere that early in the morning and was taking advantage of the time to sleep in.) She turned the TV on in the room for me and I had MTV on, but the coverage was there.
I was completely in shock. I could not believe my eyes. It all felt so surreal; it couldn't really be happening...I sat there with tears in my eyes and watched in disbelief as the South Tower began to fall. Then as the North Tower collapsed as well in just 10 seconds.
I prayed silently for all those that were still in the building.

Being a born and raised Texan girl, many do not know why this in particular is so dear to me. You see, for as long as I can remember, I always wanted to go to New York. To this day, it is a place I have always wanted to be and live. My senior year of high school, I applied to 5 universities, one of which included: NYU and to my surprise received and invitation to apply to their dance program. (I was to send in a video.) Then to an even bigger surprise, received my acceptance letter.  It truly was a dream come true. My dream was crushed rather quickly when after just a week or so of dealing with financial aid and loans, I still could not afford to go.

Had I gone, it would have been my second year. I always think about the "what's," had I actually been able to go to school in New York. What would I have seen? What if I was close?

I know none of my thoughts and questions can actually compare to those lost and those actually  affected by the attacks on 9/11.

102 minutes that changed America; A day that will forever be part of our history; nearly 3,000 lost will always be remembered.

Newcomer...sort of.

Even though I had a Blog about a year ago, with some changes that were made here, my old Blog has mysteriously disappeared so I am now starting a brand new one.

I am not much of a writer but I will post things in from time-to-time just to keep up with what is going on. Majority of my online activities are limited to Facebook and now with a bit more free time I would like to expand my leisure interests and make better use of my time.

So I just wanted to send a quick, “Hello!” and I hope to hear from you too.
